The Strongest Storm Recorded on The Planet Hits The Philippines

It still breaks my heart to know the damage done on Friday, Nov. 8th when the "Super Typhoon", Haiyan hit the Philippines, causing mass destruction. According to UNICEF around 1.7 million children are believed to be living in areas in the typhoon's path.  As a mom that number scares me, any number would.  If it were my family and my children I would love for others to help out.  It is said that electricity is currently out in major cities. According to CNN.com, nearly half a million people were forced out of their homes due to the storm.  Leaving thousands of children and families rendered "displaced and helpless".  Because of this storm these children and families are in need of urgent help.

You can help. Donate to the Disaster Relief and Stability fund today.
Help Children Affected by Philippines Typhoon
It's very simple and doesn't take much, you can donate any amount.  Even if you don't have much, you can make a small donation... even $1 from everyone in this Nation's Capitol would be a substantial amount.  Think about it, when you give to this fund, you help Compassion provide the relief, recovery, and rehabilitation that is vital to restore families affected by this massive storm.  They have nothing right now, they need all the help they can get.  This is where people need to stand together for the greater good and prove that humanity still exists.

Please don't take this as being pressuring or anything, if you can't give you can't give that is totally up to you and your situation.  We live on very low income so don't get me wrong, I understand the hardships money brings but I will find some way to donate even a little to this cause because I feel these people are worth it.  They can use the help and although, I really can't "afford" to, I will find a way to make it happen.  My husband and I have always done that.  We can't always give and we never really have "extra" money, I mean really who does?  What is "extra money"?  I don't think it exists.  But please, if you can, if your credit card isn't maxed out (as mine usually are) please donate a dollar, you many not think it's much but it's a lot to them.

Here is a list of some of the interventions your gift makes possible:

  • emergency food
  • emergency water
  • temporary shelters
  • personal items
  • cooking utensils
  • trauma counseling
  • spiritual support
  • replacing clothing
  • school supplies
  • household items
  • restoring supplies a family needs for earning income
  • providing continued counseling and support as needed

Please give today to help children in the Philippines.
