Emmy Rossum's Sentimental Journey

Emmy Rossum is a double threat. You may know her from her starring role as Fiona Gallagher on Showtime's Shamelessbut the gal can sing, too!

Emmy's newest 'passion project,' Sentimental Journey, is a collection of classic covers that takes us through the American Songbook.  On Sentimental Journey, the multi-talented actress and singer brings her stellar voice to songs popularized by some of the most beloved artists of the last century.

The album's highlights include its title track, which was a No. 1 hit for Les Brown and His Band of Renown with Doris Day as the vocalist in 1945; These Foolish Things, a '30s standard that has been recorded by everyone from Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby to Rod Stewart and Michael Buble, and Summer Wind, which was popularized by Frank Sinatra in 1966.

MY REVIEW:

I love it!  That is all!

Okay, that's not all...But I do love it!
At first glance I said to my husband, "this review is for you.  I'm not going to like it!"  WOW, was I ever wrong, from the very first song I was hooked, her voice is captivating, the songs she has chosen to sing on this album are fantastic.  In all honesty, I don't think there was a song that I didn't like.  I really enjoyed the tone, the passion in her voice is remarkable.  This album has jumped from my "I'm not going to like it list" to my favorites.  I try to turn it on whenever I'm in the van, it's a little difficult some times because of my children, but if I do it right they don't even realize that I've put on something worth listening to instead of that stuff the kids listen to nowadays.  I never thought I'd ever say that!! I'm turning into my mother, HELP!!  But it's true, the music of the past is so much better than today and when it's given new life by such talented artists as Emmy there is no doubt in my mind it will continue to be a hit.

I love this album and I would suggest if you are a fan of music that is 50 years young, you will want to grab this album.

I give this album 4 out of 4 thumbs up!

~~I received the album mentioned above for free for my written review of my honest opinion. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers~~
